Arguably the most skillfull masters of fusion jazz in the country, Fusio Group released their sixth studio album 'Wanna dance?'.
It’s their sixth album as a band, and in the spirit of their twenty-year old tradition of never redoing the same trick, but constantly evolving their sound. The main composer/arranger of the band, the drummer Péter Szendőfi, displays enormous complexity and musical craft, and this album is a joyous exhibit of atypical structures, tone and rhythm. With a general liveliness throughout, improvised parts blend pleasantly with the rigorously composed elements. Interesting to point out the 21/16 time signature in the track ’Wanna dance?’, and the purely improvised India and Improvisation#2. While it’s a full-blooded jazz album, the music does not stop short of crossover ventures into rock, funk and latin, as on Sam and No Subject.
