Quimby has reached adolescence, turning fifteen: to celebrate this year, they gave special shows at the theatre Katona József Színház and a great performance at the music hall Petőfi Csarnok. Quimby also had a compilation album out which summarizes the work of the band in the last fifteen years: this album is Family Tugedör.
The birthday CD/DVD set is not a usual ‘best of’ at all: the CD features the songs which are considered important by the band, and doing so it offers a nice view of the Quimby-world of chansons, tangos, acid-rock pieces and simple little songs. Two of the tracks were re-recodings of previous songs, Fekete Lamour (Black Lamour) and Unom (Bored).
The second disc, a DVD, presents the band’s visual and audio-visual dimensions. And in case of Quimby this does not solely mean music videos, but also an impressionist-like documentary of the group with all kinds of little curiosities.
