Péter Sárik is a young, but already widely acknowledged jazz pianist and composer. His name first came to prominence with the multi-awarded band Jazzpression. Sárik later formed his band Sárik Péter Trió with György Frey on the bass and Tamás Berdisz on drums.
Sárik has an exceptional talent in songwriting, and his work has been highlighted in many different international contests. In 2004, his song ‘Ways’ featured in the final round of the International Songwriting Competition of the USA, while finishing third in the audience vote. In the following year, his song ‘In the street’ made the final shortlist of the UK Songwriter Competition. Furthermore, in 2006, his track ‘Stream’ was voted among the best entries by panel of judges that included John Scofield, Cassandra Wilson and Tom Waits.
Sárik Péter Trió’s exciting debut album was released in 2008 entitled ‘Better Tomorrow’. The band has performed this material in many great cities and festivals across Europe. The song ‘I’ll catch you’ finished third among fifteen thousand entries in the yearly American International Songwriter contest.
Next to his own band, Péter Sárik also collaborates with other talents from the young and upcoming Hungarian jazz generation. This includes the Hodek Dávid Quartet and Eszter Bíró’s band Ezter, as well as his long-time musician partner Juli Fábián, with whom Sárik has been gigging since 2008, and formed Jazz Riff to join forces in composing too.
